New gig: Mike McCoy is the new head coach in San Diego.Previous job: He was the offensive coordinator in Denver the past four seasons. Denver won the AFC West both seasons.
Age: 40
Playing history: He was a quarterback at Long Beach State and Utah. As a pro, he had short stints in Denver, San Francisco and Green Bay, as well as NFL Europe and the CFL.
Known for: A young, bright offensive mind who is willing to adjust to the talent around him.
Reasons to be excited: McCoy was highly-sought after. He had five interviews and Jacksonville wanted to make it six. There have been eight openings this offseason. This is an offensive-first league right now, and McCoy is well respected around the league.
Reasons to be worried: He?s never been a NFL head coach before. Also, consider the Chargers don?t have a lot of talent on offense and it could take a while to get things going.
